I just finished watching this movie for the first time this afternoon. I wondered why James McAvoy was so beautiful how Jane could have walked away from Tom and thought if I were in that position, would I do the same? Then again, if she had ended up marrying Tom, would she have written the books she wrote? And would they have been as great? The events in any writer’s life affects their writing and without this romance (whether or not it actually happened), perhaps she would not have written the six novels we know and love today. As much as I love happy endings, I did not want her to marry Tom because I wanted James McAvoy to myself because I honestly feel it wasn’t right. But the relationship she did have with Tom LeFroy, true or untrue, helped her to write some of my favorite novels.
